Learn how to stay calm in those difficult moments!

Personalized approach, maximum 10 participants - BOOK NOW

Our world is a very stressful place and although we cannot get rid of stress completely - it is an intrinsic part of our lives -, we can learn to cope with it and to alleviate some of the acute physical symptoms of stress (the 'fight or flight' reaction) by focusing our attention on the place of inner calm using mindfulness and meditation.

The 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is designed to help people engage with their own wellbeing and become more effective at managing stress and their emotions.

Bringing up children can be a particularly stressful time in our lives and this course will provide you with all the tools you'll need to improve your emotional resilience, become more effective with tasks and activities, improve your relationships and enable you to appreciate life more fully.

Studies have shown that regular mindfulness practice can help to alleviate or prevent distress and promote positive wellbeing. Research on mindfulness supports the idea that cultivating greater attention, awareness and acceptance through meditation practice is associated with lower levels of psychological distress, including less anxiety, depression, anger, worry and rumination. Meditation has also been found to lower the levels of our stress hormone cortisol and to increase production of serotonin, the brain chemical which helps balance our mood and behaviour.

'I enjoyed it immensely. Still practising and have noted my anxiety levels have dropped considerably and I'm not depressed. Thank you!' - Maggie R, Hove

'This course has been very helpful for me in learning to manage stress. I also attended a CBT course recently, but found mindfulness much better - giving/providing more practical techniques for managing stress' -
John F, Brighton

The 2 hour weekly sessions consist of gentle guided meditation practices within a safe group setting to develop awareness of moment to moment experience. Group members are invited to share experiences in pairs and small groups, although this is not essential and there is no pressure to talk. Regular home practice is encouraged to deepen formal and informal practices with mindfulness and meditation resources, and course handouts. A day of mindfulness with periods of silence is also included in the course – an opportunity to come together to deepen our abilities in paying attention , be still and relax into just being ourselves.

'I found the course has given me an excellent introduction to mindfulness practices. I now have a good range of mindfulness tools and techniques which I can apply in my daily life.' - Steve H, Hove

Her experience in facilitating groups ensures that her mindfulness sessions are friendly and relaxed and tailored to participants' needs. With her warm-hearted approach, Wendy enables learners to explore and find their own way in developing their mindful practice with kindness and patience.

'Wendy had a lovely warm and relaxed style, which kind of made me feel that everything was ok. ... This course has enabled me to reinforce my practice at home and helped me to better manage difficult situations in my life and at work. It was a very gentle and calming group. I looked forward to going each week as my bit of time out.' - Liane W, Worthing

Please note that we have limited the number of participants on this mindfulness course to a maximum of 10, to ensure a more intimate and personalised experience. We therefore advise you to book early to avoid disappointment!
