Guest Speaker: Jo Turner MFHT

Jo specialises in relaxation and stress relief treatments tailored to treat the individual both physically and emotionally. In 2010 she qualified as a Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation Instructor and also a Stress and Wellbeing Instructor and combines the skills to enhance her treatments. As the founder of Joodles, Jo provides Mindfulness and Zendoodling workshops and courses throughout East and West Sussex.

Mindfulness based stress relief techniques developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical centre in the US have been used for over 30 years to help with stress, anxiety, chronic pain and general well being.

Jo had worked for over ten years in the financial business until one day the Doctor told her she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown due to stress at work. He suggested she looked at her job to decide if it was worth risking her health over. The company were not very helpful in looking at a compromise and they parted company with Jo looking for a new direction and a healthier lifestyle.

She first studied Swedish/relaxation massage and her interest grew from there into finding treatments that could help reduce anxiety and stress. Jo continues to practice as a holistic therapist offering a variety of therapies, including relaxation massage and Indian Head Massage. She also now teaches massage at a local beauty school.

As a Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation instructor Jo is running workshops and courses to help you switch off the autopilot mode of life and be more present and more conscious. She is interested in enabling people to use mindfulness in their everyday life to help with relaxation and is exploring different ways that this can be achieved. She runs Zendoodle workshops for those who want to try a creative way to be mindful and present.

Zendoodling is simply focusing on your pen and paper, and doodling repetitive patterns with intent. By focusing on the pen and paper, you become present in the moment. It is a relaxing meditative art that anyone can do, even those who say they can't draw!
